My Hero, My Police Officer-Your Soul Beckons You

“Here is courage, mankind’s finest possession, here is the noblest prize that a young man can endeavor to win.” (Spartan poet Tyrtaeus)

Oh my hero,

my police officer,

As you set off to your calling,

Your soul is,

in a dilemma

by unendurable forewarning,

It beckons you to

Arise,

guard yourself from your adversaries,

Outwit them

proceeding with vigilance

amidst their ensnarements.

But not to revel

when you triumph,

nor lay down lamenting

when you writhe,

in agonizing defeat,

Nor get over-ecstatic

in your ecstasies

or over-awed

in your grieves,

for to reach the limits of virtue

just learn,

what rhythm regulates

human affairs.

My lifelong mission in life is to offer my support for the police officers who need to be supported and protected by general public like us. My inspiration to do this comes from my personal experiences of some of the greatest police officers whom I have witnessed do great deeds for the good of humanity. I am so inspired and fascinated to support this law enforcement group. On the other hand I like music, movies specially classics, I am a fashion geek, English and American literature are my passions.

  6. What a fortunate world we live in to have men and women train for the position of hero. It’s a calling that I look upon with awe and admiration. But mostly with gratitude for those who fill it.
Thank you for a beautiful post, Samina!

    • Yes Sharmishtha that id is right. My inbox is full since I could not check my mails for a while when I was busy. So kindly send it to me in a week or so, so that I get rid of the enormous mail that has already accumulated. Thanks my friend, and sorry for the bother. I am finally settling in.
