“We need to increase women coming into the force, we need to increase women in the senior executive ranks,” Commissioner Paulson said, explaining his goal is to have “more women in our decision-making process”. He further emphasized, “The value of having women in a Police Role is that you take the interaction with a citizen away from the Force Dynamic, and you put it in the behavior, Thoughtful Dynamic. It is quite a Powerful Force to be reckoned with. We have this sort of traditional notion that we are wrestling people, jumping on people, putting handcuffs on people. The woman’s view of the world is a much more Powerful, Persuasive Force than just an arm around the neck.”
Canada’s Top Cop pledged to increase the number of female recruits, and to promote more women to senior ranks. Commissioner Paulson said he wants half of all recruits to be women within two years to help reach the goal of having a national police force that is 30% female by 2025.

I fully agree with him, we in India too can split the police force in the ratio of 50-50, men and women.
Women in police force can bring really positive effect, if they are genuine.

I am always pleased when someone in a higher position wishes to generate more of an equality in hiring and training. As in all areas of life, I feel, women can help to be part of the balance in equations. They bring to the table, their job, their mostly ‘gentler’ selves. I appreciate this article and hope that his desire to reach a 50% or at least 33% goal happens! Canada’s Mounties “Rock!”

Thanks Robin for your valued input. i am totally in favor of equal number of men and women in every organization. Both men and women are important part of any organization but somehow women police officers are far less in number than their male counterparts. I believe women do bring their gentler, peace loving attitudes to the job. I wish all success to our honorable commissioner to increase the number of women in the police force.
